School safety group releases guide to athletic event security

The free Partner Alliance for Safer Schools (PASS) white paper identifies 11 common missteps that school teams often overlook when developing and implementing safety and security policies for athletic events.


Shutterstock 444435826The Partner Alliance for Safer Schools (PASS), a nonprofit organization bringing together expertise from the education, public safety, and industry communities to develop and support best practices in safety and security, has released a new white paper, 11 Safety and Security Policies Overlooked by School Teams at Athletic Events.

"Athletic events are much more than just competitions; they are significant community gatherings that can draw large crowds and high energy," the organization states. "While we hope for a safe environment, it’s crucial for school teams to be prepared for the potential security threats that these events can attract. Traditional security and emergency response plans, while important, may not address the unique challenges presented by crowd sizes and nuances of athletic venues."
